9 Reasons I Oppose BLM: A Critique of Critical Race Theory

This essay began as my attempt to make sense of the BLM riots in 2020. Many claims were made by proponents of Critical Race Theory that challenged my understanding of the world.

I am part of a multi-racial family: my mother's boyfriend was a black man from Georgia (she passed away in October of 2020), my niece is a Korean immigrant, and my brother-in-law is a Cuban immigrant. Therefore, the issue of race and how we negotiate it as a society is of interest to me.

I began looking into the claims made by CRT proponents to compare them against statistics, data, and history that is readily available to anyone who takes the time to research it and found their claims to be misleading at best and blatantly false at worst.

All factual claims in this essay are footnoted to their original source, so that the reader can decide for themselves how they wish to evaluate those claims.
