The Winona State University
administration fears that offering students access to my
Personal Homepage may cause "misunderstanding" and
"tension." While I personally believe my students are
astute enough to figure out the following things on their
own, I nevertheless offer these clarifications as an act
of goodwill toward an administration which, from my
perspective, deeply underestimates the maturity,
intelligence, and common sense of our students:
- The material on this site
reflects my PERSONAL beliefs,
not the official stance of Winona State University, my
employer. (This is what "Personal
Homepage" means.)
- On this site, you may
encounter IDEAS THAT DIFFER FROM YOUR
OWN. (This is called
"intellectual diversity." We value this at WSU,
or so I'm told.)
- If you believe this may
traumatize you, please DO NOT explore
this website. (This is called "free will.")
- If you do CHOOSE to
explore the site, do not complain about encountering
ideas to which you have intentionally exposed
yourself. (This is called "personal
responsibility.")
