The Large River Studies Center (LRSC) was established to provide undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research on large river ecosystems and associated bodies of water.  This mission was established in recognition of the critical importance of educating students on the importance of research as part of their total educational experience and to provide a better understanding of the fundamental role of science - addressing questions relevant to science and society.  The LRSC is also responsible for disseminating information about the upper Mississippi River and other large river ecosystems to local, regional and scientific communities.

The LRSC is administered by a director, Dr. Michael D. Delong.  In addition, there is an advisory board that provides feedback on research direction and reports from the LRSC.

Advisory Board Members

Dr. James Thorp - Senior Scientist, Kansas Biological Survey, and Professor, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Kansas

Dr. Jack Grubaugh - Associate Professor of Biology and Director of the Meeman Biological Field Station, University of Memphis

Dr. Neal Mundahl, Professor of Biology, Winona State University
