Abdel-Magid, Safaa. (2002-2004). Seasonal patterns of water quality in agriculturally and urban-impacted streams.  Safaa is currently living in Chicago, working on the development of environmental education and sustainability programs.  She stills has plans for graduate school and to eventually return to the Sudan to apply what she has learned to environmental issues.

Schriever, Tiffany (2002-2004). Comparing fish trophic dynamics in three floodplain rivers: the Mississippi, Missouri and Ohio Rivers, WSU Honors project.  Tiffany won best student poster award at the 2004 meeting of the Mississippi River Research Consortium.  She completed her M.S. at the University of Southeastern Louisiana.

Slattery, Kelly. Food web dynamics of large floodplain rivers: assessment through stable isotope analysis. WSU Honors project.  Kelly is attending graduate school at Illinois State University.  Kelly began working in the LRSC as a freshman.

Guenther, Ricky (2002-2003. Invertebrate trophic dynamics in river-floodplain ecosystems.  Rick is working for Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Kohler, Brandi (2002-2003).  Sources of nitrate in agriculturally and urban-impacted streams, WSU Honors project. Brandi is attending graduate school at Nova Southeastern University.

Bruesewitz, Denise (1999-2001). The role of annual hydrological patterns on invertebrate recruitment, Ecology Option, WSU. Honors project.  Denise is working toward a Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame.  She also won the best student poster award for her graduate work at the 2003 meeting of the North American Benthological Society.

Desotelle, Micaleila (2001-2003). Production and abundance of benthic invertebrates in main channel and side channel habitats of the upper Mississippi River. Ecology Option, WSU. Leila completed her M.S. at the University of Kansas and is now in the Ph.D. program at Michigan State.

Hiam, Karie (2001-2002).  Production and abundance of benthic invertebrates in main channel and side channel habitats of the upper Mississippi River. Ecology Option, WSU. Karie is doing fisheries work for the U.S. Geological Survey in Washington State.

Hoppe, Paul (2001-2002).  Production and abundance of benthic invertebrates in main channel and side channel habitats of the upper Mississippi River. Ecology Option, WSU.  Paul is doing fisheries work for California Department of Fish and Game.

Loebner, Sharon (2000 - 2001). Effect of location in a navigation reach on abundance of hydropsychid larvae, Allied Health Option, WSU. Honors project.  Sharon worked for the Newfound Harbor Research Institute, Big Pine Key, FL before completing a M.S. program in science education at the University of Florida. Sharon won best student poster award at the 2001 meeting of the Mississippi River Research Consortium.

Paulson, Lorie (2000 - 2001). Growth and secondary production of hydropsychid caddisflies in the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Lorie is currently working in the test laboratory of Watkins Industries, Winona.

Schuette, Luci (2000 - 2001). Growth and secondary production of hydropsychid caddisflies in the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU. Lucy is working with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and plans to enter graduate schooll.

Konz, Jessica (1999 - 2000). Effects of zebra mussels on population structure of hydropsychid caddisfiles in the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Jessica is working at the University of Iowa and plans to attend graduate school.

Murray, Nicole (1999). Positive and negative aspects of interactions between native riverine invertebrates and zebra mussels, Ecology Option, WSU.

Curl, Sarah (1998 - 1999). Zebra mussel secondary production in the upper Mississippi River, Allied Heath Option, WSU. Honors project.  Sarah graduated in 2001 and completed physical therapy school at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.

Doyle, Timothy (1998 - 1999). Zebra mussel growth rates in the upper Mississippi River, Cell and Molecular Option, WSU.  Tim completed an M.S. in the Department of Microbiology, University of Iowa.

Fye, Josh (1998 - 1999). Bluegill growth in different habitats of the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Josh graduated from WSU in spring 2000 and is working with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Hale, Carey (1998 - 1999). Shorthead redhorse growth in different habitats of the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU. Honors project.  Carey graduated from WSU in spring 2000 and is working in the private sector.

Hulbert, Bridget (1998 - 1999). Invertebrate secondary production in in situ chambers, Ecology Option, WSU.  Bridget graduated from WSU in spring 2000.

Kunas, Myra (1998 - 1999). Zebra mussel secondary production in the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU. Honors project.  Myra graduated in spring 2000 and completed a M.S. in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Tulane University.  Myra is planning to completed a Ph.D.

Mack, Kristin (1998 - 1999). Zebra mussel growth rates in the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Krissy started in the science education program at the University of Northern Illinois in 2003.

Zaletel, Andrew (1998 - 1999). Invertebrate secondary production in in situ chambers, Ecology Option, WSU.  Andy is in the Resource Analysis graduate program at St. Mary's University.

Capaul, Ann (1998). Habitat use of fishes in the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.   Ann is a technician with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Bozeman, Montana.

Hilger, Jessica (1997 - 1998). Rate of invertebrate colonization of snags in the main channel of the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.

Mohan, Heather (1997 - 1998). Somatic growth rates of a filter-feeding invertebrate (Dreissena polymorpha) in main channel and backwater habitats of the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Heather is working with the U.S. Geological Survey and is attending graduate school at the University of California, Davis.

Rand, Jennifer (1997 - 1998). Seasonal patterns in the biomass of a filter-feeding invertebrate (Dreissena polymorpha) in the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU. Honors project.  Jen is in the Resource Analysis graduate program at St. Mary's University.

Reeves, Katherine (1997 - 1998). Rate of invertebrate colonization of snags in the main channel of the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Katie completed an M.S. in environmental education at Slippery Rock University.

Vitcenda, Kelly (1997 - 1998). Fish growth and habitat use in the upper Mississippi River, Allid Health Option, WSU. Honors project.  Kelly completed physical therapy school at the University of Miami.

Eklund, Ingrid (1997). Fish growth estimates of fishes inhabiting the floodplain of the upper Mississippi River during spring inundation, Nursing, WSU.  Ingrid graduated from the WSU Nursing program and is working in that field.

Birkle, Todd (1996 - 1997). Changes in invertebrate community structure on woody debris since the introduction of Dreissena polymorpha to the upper Mississippi River, Cell and Molecular Option, WSU. Honors project.  Todd  completed Veterinary School at the University of Minnesota.

Henderson, Stephanie (1996 - 1997). Examination of changes in the abundance of CPOM on forest floodplains in response to spring inundation, Ecology Option, WSU.  Stephanie is working as a naturalist with a private park in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Servaty, Renae. (1996 - 1997). Evidence of fish predation on zebra mussels in the Upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Renae is planning to begin teaching full time after substitute teaching and starting her family..

Besser, Renae. (1995 - 1996). Monthly changes in invertebrate community structure following application of an herbicide to control Eurasian watermilfoil, Ecology Option, WSU.

Dueschle, Deric. 1995 - 1996. Invertebrate community structure on tile and snag substrata in the upper Mississippi River in the presence of zebra mussels, Ecology Option, WSU. Honors project.  Deric completed his M.S. in Biology at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, and is working at a private environmental consulting firm.

Mull, Tim. 1995 - 1996. Macrophyte/invertebrate relationships following treatment of a lake with the herbicide fluridone, Allied Health Option, WSU.

Swanson, Russell. 1995 - 1996. A three-year study examining the effects of vegetation removal through herbicide application on invertebrate community structure, Ecology Option, WSU. Honors project.  Russ is managing the family dairy farm.

Ward, Tom. 1995 - 1996. An in situ experiment examining population dynamics of the zebra mussel in the upper Mississippi River, Cell and Molecular Option, WSU.  Tom is a QA/QC manager for a private laboratory.

Ellings, Trisha. 1994 - 1995. Effect of zebra mussel density on macroinvertebrate community structure on tile and snag substrata in the upper Mississippi River, WSU.   Trisha is a teacher in the Minneapolis school system.

Hersom, Sharon. 1994 - 1995. Colonization rate of zebra mussels on tile and snag substrata in the upper Mississippi River, WSU.  Sharon works in a local nursery and is helping establish seedlings and a seed bank for local native plants.

Lehtinen, Richard. 1993 - 1995. Effect of late-winter drawdown of a reservoir on the vertical distribution and abundance of benthic macroinvertebrates, Ecology Option, WSU.   Rick completed his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan after completing his M.S. at the University of Minnesota. He is an assistant professor of Biology at Wooster College. Rick won best poster award at the 1995 meeting of the Mississippi River Research Consortium.

Madejczyk, Jeffrey. 1993 - 1995. Macroinvertebrate recolonization of dewatered shoreline following late-winter drawdown of a reservoir, Ecology Option, WSU.  Jeff recently completed his M.S. with Iowa State University and is working with a state agency in Florida.

Moeller, Gregory. 1994 - 1995. Effects of vegetation removal through herbicide application on invertebrate community structure, Ecology Option, WSU.  Greg completed an M.S. in Environmental Science at the University of Northern Iowa and is in the Wisconsin State Toxicology Laboratory.

Maurer, Jason. 1993 - 1995. Biomass of stored benthic and transported organic matter in large rivers (Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio Rivers), Life Sciences Option, WSU.  Jason is teaching high school biology in Wisconsin.

Duellman, Merridith. 1993 - 1994. Rate of leaf decomposition and macroinvertebrate community structure of leaf packs in the Mississippi River, Honors project, Life Sciences Option, WSU. Honors project.  Merridith is teaching high school biology in the Twin Cities.

Gallagher, Kari. 1993 - 1994. Macroinvertebrate community structure on snags from main channel and backwater habitats of the upper Mississippi River, Ecology Option, WSU.  Kari completed an M.S. in Biology at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse and currently works for an environmental consulting firm in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Lynch, Christine. 1993 - 1994. Habitat availability and use by macroinvertebrates in a river subjected to hydropower peaking, Ecology Option, WSU.  Crissy is a technician with a private consulting firm in Minneapolis.

Marley, Joseph. 1993 - 1994. Longitudinal changes in invertebrate community structure along a river subjected to hydropower peaking, Life Sciences Option, WSU.  Joe was in the Peace Corps in Niger for three years.  He currently taugt in a remote area of Alaska outside of Fairbanks and is currently working on a distance learning program in the Prairie du Chien, WI school district.
