This coronene molecule is an example of a chiral molecule with no chirality centers. Steric strain between hydrogens at the two ends of the molecule force the ends out of planarity, causing a helical shape that lacks a plane of symmetry. The two enantiomers are shown highlighting the mirror image relationship between them. |
